Powder Production via Atomisation and Subsequent Laser Powder Bed Fusion Processing of Fe+316L Steel Hybrid Alloy

چکیده
The current investigation shows the feasibility of 316L steel powder production via three different argon gas atomisation routes (closed coupled atomisation, free fall with and without hot gas), along subsequent sample by laser bed fusion (PBF-LB). Here, a mixture pure Fe atomised is used for PBF-LB to induce chemical composition gradient in microstructure. Optical microscopy μ-CT investigations proved that samples processed exhibit very little porosity. Combined EBSD-EDS measurements show leading formation local fcc-structure. Upon heat treatment (1100 °C, 14 h), homogeneous throughout A moderate decrease (1060 985 MPa) sample’s ultimate tensile strength (UTS) observed after treatment. However, total elongation as-built heat-treated remains same (≈22%). Similarly, slight hardness from 341 307 HV1 upon

Functionalization of Biomedical Ti6Al4V via In Situ Alloying by Cu during Laser Powder Bed Fusion Manufacturing
The modern medical industry successfully utilizes Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) to manufacture complex custom implants. Ti6Al4V is one of the most commonly used biocompatible alloys. In surgery practice, infection at the bone-implant interface is one of the key reasons for implant failure. Therefore, advanced implants with biocompatibility and antibacterial properties are required. Modificatio...
متن کاملFabrication and Characterization of a Low Magnetic Zr-1Mo Alloy by Powder Bed Fusion Using a Fiber Laser
A low magnetic Zr-1Mo alloy was fabricated by a powder bed fusion (PBF) process using a fiber laser. The microstructure, surface morphology, and pore distribution of the as-built Zr-1Mo alloy were observed. Its magnetic susceptibility and Vickers hardness were evaluated by magnetic susceptibility balance and a microindentation tester, respectively. The as-built Zr-1Mo alloy mainly consisted of ...
متن کاملStudy of the Microstructure and Cracking Mechanisms of Hastelloy X Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion
Hastelloy X (HX) is a Ni-based superalloy which suffers from high crack susceptibility during the laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) process. In this work, the microstructure of as-built HX samples was rigorously investigated to understand the main mechanisms leading to crack formation. The microstructural features of as-built HX samples consisted of very fine dendrite architectures with dimensions...
متن کاملLaser powder bed fusion of Ti-6Al-4V parts: Thermal modeling and mechanical implications
A continuum-scale modeling approach is developed and employed with three-dimensional finite element analysis (FEA), for simulating the temperature response of a Ti-6Al-4V, two-layered parallelepiped with dimensions of 10×5×0.06 mm during Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF), a metals additive manufacturing (AM) method. The model has been validated using experimental melt pool measurements from the l...
